Heat Stroke Hits Karachi !!

Ramadan Mubarak to my fellow brothers and sisters!!

This post is rather a sad one to announce about my city..
With a heavy heart, I write this post about the heat stroke that surrounds Karachi.

Karachi! It is a city known as "The City of lights" on account of its high life and people that reside in this particular city. It could be correct as well if I refer "was" in context to it being city of lights.

Heat Stroke basically happens to a person if the body temperature rises  above 105 F. The recent heat wave has taken away 700 lives and many more are at stake, Each day, each hour a person gets admitted to hospital as a result of heat stroke.

At this situation, what can I, a normal resident do?
This situation can happen at any city and one must always be prepared for it.

Starting off, there are some prevention needed to be taken in order to safe yourself
*Stay Hydrated
*Avoid Fast Foods
*Have minimal sun exposure
*Keep yourself cool constantly via a fan or sprinkler
*Never Panic when you are suffocating, rather take short breaths to keep yourself calm
*Keep your body covered
*Do not bath right after you enter your home

However, If you know some one who has a heat stroke, you can
*Fan them
*Keep their feet elevated from ground
*Sprinkle water over them timely
* Damp a towel and put it on their body
*Put ice packs over exposed body

It is good to care for others. Fill empty mineral bottles and circulate them on the streets to the working class as they are in need of water the most. Other than that, you can donate water bottles, ice packs, ORS sachets to places where heat stroke camps are located. You can also lifts to people walking on the streets to save them. Every action counts people!

Remember to plant trees and save our ecosystem!!
We are our own strength!!

Asia Cup 2014:Pakistan vs India

Ok so yesterday that is on 2nd March 2014, aired the most exciting and thrilling match for cricket lovers. India vs Pakistan  You never know who will win the match that makes this match all too exciting. India had given target of 245 to Pakistan which had although seemed distant but was yet accomplished. The game plan did flip flops in the last five overs when Pakistan was at strike. After the catch out of Umer Gul, the match had seemed quite out of grip. Later Saeed Ajmal went out developing pressure on Pakistani team. It was all on the shoulders of Shahid Afridi which he not only suceeded but also did it quite remarkably with his last and amazing match winning six. One thing interesting is that such scenario between India and Pakistan had also occurred once during the Sharjah cup back in 1985/86 with only one wicket remaining. At that time,Javaid Miandad had hit the match winning sixer and now it was Shahid Khan Afridi. There is indeed similarity in the two Asia c...

Robot to the rescue: Emerging Pakistan

I am quite pleased to announce this is a good news about Pakistan. A student of MSc Sulaiman Khan  at the Institute of Physics and Electronics, University of Peshawar has earned himself an honor of devising a robot such to defuse bombs. “I got the idea from the movie. The situation in K-P was the final straw, people dying while trying to defuse bombs and save lives,” he told The Express Tribune over the phone. The student used his limited financial resources to make this robot taking the time span of three months.Approximately Rs.82000/= was consumed in the process. The student claims that if the project is well funded, he could have made a better robot with sensors and other specifications rather than compromising to give away a cheap model. “the movement assembly is like a car’s”. It is battery operated and has one arm, but another can easily be added. “The hand has a five directional motion, and the rotator cuff can move 360 degrees.” Sulaiman Khan plans on building ...
